About the Root Chakra
The root chakra sits at the base of your spine, radiating its beautiful red light to ground and center you. This chakra governs our basic needs for stability and security, both within ourselves and in our worlds. The root chakra can be thrown out of alignment by events that cause us to feel unsafe or insecure, whether the threat is real or perceived.
An underactive root chakra could manifest as:
- feelings of overwhelm,
- issues with disorganization,
- difficulty focusing.
An overactive root chakra could manifest as:
- overindulgence in the physical world (sex, money, food, etc.),
- resistance to change or inflexibility,
- unprovoked aggression and negativity.
